Aflið's team is a diverse group, each with expertise in their own field. By offering a diverse group of consultants, Aflið hopes to meet the needs of as many people as possible. The consultants share their knowledge with each other and are constantly seeking further training in the field of consulting.

Erla Hrönn has worked at Aflið since 2022. She completed an M.A. in gender studies and a diploma in the application of gender equality studies. She works as Aflið’s executive director and is responsible for all the organization’s activities under its Board of Directors.

Ída has worked at Aflið since 2024. She graduated as an event manager from Hólar University in 2021 and is studying creative arts at Bifröst University. Ída is in charge of all promotional matters for Aflið.

Jóhanna has been a consultant at Aflið since 2020. She is a nurse and has taken many courses. For example, a MÁPM course (cooperative and trauma therapy), a diploma in positive psychology, and she is a coach.

Þórey is a social worker by training and is our consultant in Siglufjörður and Blönduós. Þórey has extensive experience working with people in the health sector and in the field of disability. She has also worked with parents and children as a parenting and therapy consultant in the field of child protection.

Karen completed her master’s degree in clinical psychology in 2019. She first joined Aflið as a consultant in the summer of 2017. Karen began her work as a psychologist in the outpatient department of BUGL, then transferred to Stígamót and then returned to Aflið in 2022.

Margaret has worked as a consultant at Aflið since 2023. She has experience as a secondary school teacher with a BA in languages ​​and educational sciences, an MA in gender studies and additional qualifications in special education, positive psychology and clinical supervision.

Geirlaug Björnsdóttir, a family therapist, developmental therapist and coach, is the professional responsible for Aflið’s activities. She meets with counselors every two weeks, provides private supervision for counselors and also sits on the organization’s executive board. She also supervises the executive director and performs duties for the organization’s board if requested. A professional responsible person is thus present for all of the organization’s activities and presents how counselling for victims is handled in consultation with the executive board.
