On Friday, June 27, the doors of Aðalstræti 14 were opened to the public, offering an opportunity to learn about the work taking place in the building. Three strong non-profit organizations operate here, providing diverse services and support for people who have experienced violence.
Aflið supports survivors and their families through individual counseling and courses aimed at working through the consequences of violence.
The Women’s Shelter provides women and their children with safe accommodation, counseling services, and 24/7 emergency assistance.
Bjarmahlíð is a service and information center for survivors of violence, offering counseling and guiding survivors toward available resources.
By hosting such a day, people were given a wonderful opportunity to get to know the work, learn about the resources available, and meet the people behind the organizations. Staff from all three organizations were present throughout the day, ready to answer questions and provide further information. Visitors also gained insight into how the organizations work together to provide comprehensive support for survivors.
The day was a success — the sun was shining, and many people came and took part. We sincerely thank everyone who joined us.
